Our family box program is a partnership with School District 83’s Indigenous Education Department to identify and support families needing assistance with a monthly box of nutritious foods.
Everyone has the right to food that supports health and wellbeing. Our boxes are filled with fresh, locally sourced food that supports our farmers, families and the environment!
In 2022, our boxes contributed well over $70,000 directly into the pockets of local farmers and food producers, and helped build capacity for our local food system.
The SHU-Box Food Coupons support local Farmers’ Markets and boost food security in the Shuswap. They ensure that recipients have a source of healthy, local food while respecting their food sovereignty. These coupons also encourage participation in the positive social environment of our Shuswap Farmers’ Markets while increasing the viability of our farmers and the Shuswap economy.
Community members can contribute to this project through donations that, in turn, provide coupons to individuals and/or families who can use a hand-up. For more information, or to donate, please contact us at email@example.com.
